Dreadlock Grass

The Dreadlock Grass stands out among the black and white of the grasslands, which is very much intentional as per its dispersal strategy.

Anatomy

Dreadlock Grass is a relatively moderate sized plant, growing to a height of 60 centimetres in height- just enough to poke out of the snow most of the year.

Long strands of soft seed shells much appearing like dreadlocks, spread from the tips of the plants blades.

Seed Dispersal

The seeds of Dreadlock Grass are tiny, and extremely hardy. When an animal spots the blaring red of the grass, they eat the tasty – and addictive – seed shells.

Within these shells are the seeds, too small to notice for larger animals. These seeds are undigestible, and when spread as waste from the animal they will grow into new plants.

Environment

The environment of the Dreadlock Grass is open, cold and harsh. While dominated by quick growing Juxta Grass, Dreadlock Grass is spread around quite frequently – though randomly.
