Dragon designs part 2, specifically Dragons’ Life on Roblox

Written by:

Dragons’ Life on Roblox is one of the most popular roleplay dragon games on the platform, but how anatomically correct is the dragon design really?

When I think of a dragon, what I see is a winged reptile with dinosaur aspects, there are many things you can do to make a design unique, but there is a line between what is a dragon and what isn’t for me. In this daily series spanning 5 days I will be looking at dragons in games and judging them on multiple factors, I mean no offence to the developers, I am only stating my opinion on the designs’ anatomical accuracy.

Design

The dragons seem to have been made with the intent of making an anthropomorphic (human expressions on an animal) dragon, and they did a good job of this, the face is very expressive.

While they did well with anthropomorphism, how did they do for anatomy?

Wings

The wings are done very well! The surface area is ok, enough to fly well, and the anatomy is that of a bat, save for the absence of a clawed thumb. And what surprises me most is that this dragon does not suffer from “Elbow Finger Syndrome” like so many others of its kind do.

Body

The body has a keel (bone protruding from the sternum that allows for extra muscle attachment) that could well keep it flying, and so flight is very much possible for this design.

The legs, and especially feet, are mammal-like. This does not hold very well with how I interpret a dragon. The face has a mammal-like nose as well, apart from that the face is good though.

Overview

This dragon is good with its anatomy, and while quite mammal-like it has perfect wings. This is an above average design!

Rating

I would rate this one an 8/10 anatomy-wise.

Favourite Feature

The wings! I can’t believe how good they are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despised Feature

Those paws…
